I recently had total hip replacement surgery on my right hip – and, that is the same side that I sleep on. So, I was very concerned about my ability to sleep on my back or my left-hand side since I know how critical sleep is to healing. Initially, I was going to try to “prepare” for it – but, then I decided that it was not worth losing sleep as that would come soon enough. Ironically, one month and one day before my surgery, I was introduced to Spherehead – and, could not be more grateful. I was impressed the moment that I opened the package since it did not come with that typically off gassing of high VOC products – and, as an environmental engineer, this was really important to me. Interestingly enough, when I was in recovery, post-surgery, my head was resting in the attached “form.” Incredibly, it mimicked the shape of the Spherehead pillow. Since my surgery was at New England Baptist hospital, I knew that I was getting the best care – so, I asked about the positioning of my head/neck and all of the benefits were explained to me – and, they were all aligned with the design and function of the Spherehead pillow. The only difference was the comfort. I actually looked forward to my Spherehead pillow “welcoming” me to, upon my return home, rest as comfortably as I could on my back. Suffice it to say, that Spherehead was an unexpected gamechanger in terms of my recovery! The price point was very reasonable considering all of the other products on the market, many of which I have tried over the years for other reasons. I was fortunate to have been introduced to Spherehead just in time for my hip replacement surgery. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 9 years ago and would have given anything to have a pillow like this at that time as well since I also had to sleep (well, try) on my back post-surgeries. Suffice it to say, I highly recommend this pillow – and, the covering is also functional and carefully thought out since it is very gentle on the hair and the side of the face. A+!
